i'm still not having much joy with getting clients help to apply for DROs. Paytplan tell me that they refer clients to the CAB in their own area, but some CABs in my areas only get involved with DROs if the applicant were eligible for legal aid criteria

any suggestions?

The CAB are supposed to help with DROs as they are an authorised intermediary - they are not supposed to make judgments on legal aid etc.

If a client has come through to Payplan to do a financial statement and it is one of the options available then they will do them for them. What they do not do is take clients who are directly referred for them as if a third party thinks it is possible that this should be done then they should go to a CAB,

Hi Johnny, did you have any joy with CCCS? I have a friend who I think might qualify for a DRO and I advised him to ring CAB, he says they were unaware of a DRO and for him to call in and see them. He is a very nervous person and I dont think he probably explained it very well. I will try to assist but I have little faith in the CAB, although I know they can be a great help on occasions, and I dont want to sit with him in their office for hours and end up with nothing.
