I think what makes this story worse is Nationwide's claim of being the understanding bank. You might think 'there for the grace of God go I' might have have registered in their money obsessed brains.

Nothing in the whole sordid debt collection spectrum shocks me any more.
There`s a whole bunch of them out there who fly in the face of official advice when dealing with sensitive debts.
Nationwide,HBOS,RBS ( and all their subsidiaries ) to name three of the biggest perpetrators.

Banks don't give a monkeys hoot about your situation, they want money, money, money, nothing less but more, more, more.
Nationwide didn't care a toss with my debt to them, they got very aggressive and without any good reason, whilst I was in negotiations about repayments through CCCS and writing to them myself, simply sold the debt to Roxburghe DCA.

wazza...

Write to them recorded delivery and Insist on everything by letter.

Realise that dealing with Rox or any other of the DCAs is matter of fact. Whoever you are... to the DCA you are a number, a file, a case. The fact you are being persued by Rox's lowly paid DCA morons means you are not big fish just a number.

Regarding those early phone calls. DCAs do not deal with the really large defaulters just the minnows. If you default on a serious amount of money, you will find the bank is much more polite. If you owe them half a million unsecured, your case will be dealt with kid gloves and not a lowly DCA who bought the debt for a penny in the pound. There is no law that says you have to even engage in dialogue with a DCA so do not take any lack of manners personally, just place the receiver on the hook.

DCAs operate on the fear factor just like those a-holes who used to threaten you with the bogey man when you were kid. Just keep your cool and you will soon learn not to let them get to you.

Like many people who have been hit by this recession. If you have little dosh and no assetts, stay polite and humble and offer what is affordable after living exes.

I guess you don't get to be the UK's Biggest "anything" without being extremely cut-throat in business dealings.

Clever marketing tries to make us forget that from time to time, but I doubt that anyone on this forum will let it slip their mind for too long

Well they are affectionately known as Poxy Roxy and not without good reason.
Had all their usual male bovine waste products thrown at me, "May" letters and "What if letters" followed by more "Equestrian waste" such as letters from Graham White solicitors, signed by no other than Michael Sobel himself.
A couple of well worded letters with knowledge from this site and the CAG forums put a stop to it all, and I must admit, they readily excepted CCCS offer of payments something the " understanding bank" refused to do.
